What We Are

In 1982, the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) of Karnataka Province extended its mission from coastal Karnataka to North Karnataka identifying Mundgod Taluka of Uttara Kannada district as the base for launching its service among the Siddi, Gawli, Golla, Vaddar, Lamani, Koravar and Other Backward Communities. They have been actively carrying out pastoral, educational, social and healthcare ministries. Focus of the mission is “service of faith and promotion of justice through dialogue with the religions and culture.” The mission’s key focus is on formal and non-formal education, village conscientisation, health and social empowerment, besides taking care of the spiritual needs of the people.

The North Karnataka Jesuits Educational and Charitable Society (NKJE&CS), was established in 1992 in Mundgod by the Karnataka Jesuit Province.
